An Unlikely Pair: Cable Knit Meets Pencil Skirt

Fall Pairings: Cable Knit + a Pencil Skirt

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6

Step one, dig out your thickest cable knit sweater from the bottom of your closet. Step two, iron and press your pencil skirt. Step three, treat yourself to a cranberry scone (it compliments your mani) and enjoy your morning commute into the office because you are one fabulously styled lady.

I’m head over heels for a comfy cable knit, but only a winter white or cream will suffice. The purity of the hue offers an extra level of sophistication and polish.

Typically reserved for weekend wear — think apple picking, pumpkin patching and the like — the cable knit can be paired with your best skinnies or even a form fitting pencil skirt. As long as you abide by the volume to sleek silhouette ratio (if you have a lot of volume on top, keep it slender on bottom), feel free to let your chunky knits soar to new heights this fall.

Add some grace with a riding boot (these brown beauties are $40 from Target!) or a suede wedge + navy stockings. For your final touches, sweep a deep, rich red across your nails and lips and add a sleek 60s-inspired wave (think Betty Draper, season 2) to your hair.

You nailed it.
